One of the toughest parts about dieting for most females is the cravings and urge for sweets. One of the best ways to get over that “addiction” would be to snack on more fruits. The natural sugar in fruits is obviously a better choice because it’s not harmful to your body, there are no hidden chemicals and it actually does good for your body. At the moment I’m not indulging in fruits (mmmm blueberries, how I miss you) so I had to find a calorie and carb free substitute to do the job. My trick to this is Stevia which is a natural sweetener with no artificial flavorings, glycemic index, carbs and calories. Enjoy a good cup of morning coffee but trying to ween off of the creams? Add some Stevia. Protein pancakes? Sprinkle with Stevia. Green tea? Dash of Stevia. And my new favourite drink is water+lemon+Stevia which of course equals a delicious calorie free lemonade:) So refreshing and healthy for you! Read more on Stevia here.
As well as this little trick, I start my morning with my favourite meal of the day so that I’m even more motivated to get up early and workout. My protein pancakes is probably one of the most simplest that you’ll ever find on the internet. Many people create recipes that require a blender, flour, or other ingredients that take a little longer but since I’m usually pressed for time I prefer to have a recipe that’s as simple as possible. I know I’ve mentioned these a couple times before but I haven’t yet had a post dedicated to them so here it is.
- 4 Egg Whites
-1/2 Cup Oats
-Dash of Cinnamon
-Toppings of choice (sugar free syrup, honey, but my personal favourite….peanut butter)
Just mix together the oats, egg whites and cinnamon in a bowl and pour it onto a skillet as if it was a pancake. After two(ish) minutes, flip it over and cook the over side. Be careful not to burn it because it can cook rather fast! Put it on a plate and voila! You have yourself a super healthy and filling morning breakfast:)
